About
Jeffrey Wegener and Belle Phoenix recorded a new original album 'CINEMATIC LOVE' May 2025. The duet (drums and guitar) add special guests who play various instruments: horns, violin/s, cello/s, guitar/s, bass etc. Their third gig at
The Cave Inn (BNE) showcased a 19-0yo, Robert Pestorius with Bob Farrell (Laughing Clowns/MPD) on saxophones. Later in Melbourne, Jack Howard (Hunter's & Collectors) joined on trumpet with Osker Bickford on guitar.
Phoenix has collaborated with Mark Plati (David Bowie) on her previous European release 'The Glorious Dead' (Beast records 2023).
Phoenix played various shows in Berlin with Chris Hughes (Crime & the City Solution, Rowland S. Howard, Lydia Lunch...et. al) and Maria Zastrow (Kid Congo, Blixa Bargeld, Nick Cave etc.) on bass.
The pair supported Mick Harvey (Nick Cave) & Amanda Acevedo in Melbourne
and were joined by Jeff Hooker (Brian Henry Hooper/Kim Salmon) on bass supporting 90BPM.
BACKGROUND 2024-2025
It all began in 2025, at Jeffrey’s home in Sydney. The pair had never played together before and decided to record 8-tracks live in three hours with the help of a friend, Bruce Callaway.
Later they mixed the tracks and decided to call these demo recordings "DEMOLITION" pun intended.
In Melbourne they entered the studio with guitarist Osker Bickford (MJ Halloran, Brian Henry Hooper etc.) on bass and laid the foundations for the up and coming "acoustic" recording of 'Cinematic Love'' TBA.
They have been showcasing the album at various locations around the country.
In December 2019, Phoenix formed a Finnish band and played festivals, art galleries and bars until the covid pandemic died.
'Wolf' aka Osker Bickford arrived in Finland and they self-produced a D.I.Y. recording entitled TaranDtula in the Metso Library.
The album was previously known as Terraform and was abandoned.
Phoenix has been playing live shows in both Australia and mostly London and Europe .
